At the beginning of the modern era, some artists investigated the most obscure corners of human mind, using surprising new languages, to move feelings and imagination.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Giovanni Segantini, Gaetano Previati, Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, Angelo Morbelli, Medardo Rosso, Giacomo Balla, Giorgio de Chirico, Umberto Boccioni and Carlo Carr\u00e0 <\/b>were the main characters of this new artistic season. Our journey into the fin de si\u00e8cle atmosphere starts with the Darwinian evolution, and the new scientific echoes that inspire touching portraits by Segantini and Pellizza da Volpedo, and works by Previati and Morbelli, close to the Preraffaellite painters and the so called poets maudits.<\/div>\n
From melancholy, to mysticism, from the abyss of fear to the r\u00eaverie, from sexual liberation to the peaceful rapture of love, the artists started to try new languages and they reached a perfect formal sublimation. The mature works by Pellizza da Volpedo, Previati and Medardo Rosso, seem to be formed with light, and as Boccioni said \u201cforms start to talk like music, bodies become atmosphere, and the subject becomes pure spirit\u201d.<\/div>\n

The tryptich Stati d\u2019animo, by Boccioni, is the centre of the exhibition. With a brand new point of view, the young Futurists tend to \u201cpush the audience inside the painting\u201d, close to the emotions and the rythm of the Twentieth Century.<\/div>\n
